Relationship Therapy

Relationship Therapy

Relationship offers the opportunity to meet with a therapist who specializes in relationships along with your partner or partners in a private office that is comfortable, safe and confidential. In relationship therapy you will collaboratively come up with goals and plans to work to achieve those goals. Your therapist may guide therapy from different theoretical backgrounds including intersystems, cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, problem-solving, mindfulness-based, and others. Your therapist will use an approach that fits the goals that you and your partner(s) are coming in for and can tailor the approach based on your experiences and preferences. Your therapist may suggest exercises for you and your partner(s) to complete between sessions to help you to work toward your goals. Be sure to communicate with your therapist about preferences or questions that you may have.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

Relationship therapy usually begins in the form of weekly 50-minute sessions. Depending on the circumstances (e.g., distance, health limitations) extended session times may be available. Dr. Kalos’ role is to guide you and your partner in working toward the goals you set out while also continuously integrating your feedback as well as the significant events and changes that occur on a week to week basis. Therapy is a process that evolves along with the changes that you and your partner make.
