Group Therapy

Group therapy offers a unique opportunity to work toward your goals in a setting that integrates the experience and expertise of your group therapist as well as other members of your group in a private office setting. Your therapist will work to make the group therapy environment as safe and confidential as possible. Many clients express that they experience group therapy as uniquely supportive due to the feeling of connection with other group members. Group therapy can also be a more cost-effective way of engaging in therapy or can be a beneficial add-on to individual, relationship, or sex therapy that you are already participating in.

What can you expect?

Therapy groups usually consist of between 6-10 participants who meet on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. Group sessions typically last between 60 to 90 minutes per session. Your therapist will likely begin each session with an invitation to check in about significant events since the time of the previous session and to request time to share in the group about an issue or topic of particular interest to you. Your therapist may often provide handouts, educational materials or tools to enhance your experience in working toward the goals set in the group.
